“The journey of this lifetime is to unravel, to remember and return to our true self and essential nature. Where our essential nature is joyful, playful, grounded, fearless and expanded.”

Who am I? Why yoga?

Yoga teacher, and student. Facilitator. Lover of dance, embodiment, expression and laughter.

A human, seeking. Seeking purpose and direction. Seeking truth - personal and universal. Seeking to understand what it means to be human, to be me. What it means to experience this life, what it means to love, what it is to connect with and express my Self.

A human, remembering. Remembering what it means to be creative and sensual, what it means to be playful. A human, unraveling. Unraveling karma, conditioning and stories that no longer serve.

Really…I’m just another human, being.

Five years ago, an unconscious and unhealthy period of my life culminated in a major car accident. I was left asking the questions “what is my purpose? what have I offered to the world? who am I and what role do I play in it all?” I found myself drawn to yoga, soaking up as much philosophy as I could to understand the world, suffering, maya (illusion), the Self and the journey towards self realisation.

Drawing on yogic philosophy and teachings, and reflecting on this non-linear journey back to our essential nature is core to how I teach yoga. After all, yoga is for living, not doing and it runs far deeper than just the postures.

Yoga is for living, not doing…

A full body experience and a knowing when reading Autobiography of a Yogi - India was calling. In 2025 I followed that calling and travelled to India for 9 weeks, including a month in Rishikesh completing 300 hours YTT in Traditional Hatha at Sanskar Yogashala. My time in India was magic, profound, deep - from dancing in the streets for Holi, experiencing an expansive meditation in a Varanasi temple, a week at an Ayurvedic retreat in Kerala, and trying Ashtanga and a week long Pranayam course in Mysuru.

I learnt much from the culture and the people of the land where peace truly exists within the chaos. I gained a deeper understanding of yogic/Vedic philosophy and learnt of many tools and systems to work on the body, mind and spirit.

Returning from India, I am inspired to instil core elements of the practice back into my classes so as to work not only on the physical, but also the mental and spiritual bodies.
